Strategy Overview (High-Level Game Plan)
The game-plan created was based on:
- Content marketing to build topical authority
- Technical SEO to improve crawlability and performance
- Backlink acquisition to increase domain authority
Content Marketing Strategy
If you’ve read anything about SEO or internet marketing, you’ve heard “content is king.” The plan was to audit the current pages and posts on the site for any technical SEO issues. Over 100 blog posts were written, consistently over time, to lead to Gardens Animal Hospital becoming both a trustworthy informational resource and a strongly branded local presence.
Keyword & Topic Research
- Local intent keywords (e.g., “vet in Palm Beach Gardens”, as well as later targeting surrounding city keywords)
- Informational queries (pet care, symptoms, treatments)
- Service-based keywords (grooming, urgent care, boarding, etc)
Content Creation
- Blog posts targeting long-tail keywords (ie “Why is My Cat Shaking?” post received nearly 7 million impressions)
- Optimized service pages (“Pet Dentistry in Lake Park” and simliar keywords in top 3 ranking)
- FAQ sections to capture voice search (most blog posts contain FAQs and FAQ schemas)
Topical Authority Building
Blog posts and page content were clustered based on categories and tags, which all got an SEO treatment. Similar blog posts were grouped into blog series for longer session durations and lower bounce rate. Additional, internal linking between related content was greatly improved by adding related/popular blog posts links at the base of every post. Gradually the site became a trusted informational resource for not only local areas but for a larger, general audience of people seeking veterinary advice and tips.

Conversion Optimization
To increase conversions on the site, the conversion funnel was shortened considerably. All links to book appointments were initially internal links, to a page that then required additional reading, and then an addition click to an external booking site. This middle-man link was removed so the user can go directly to booking. Additionally, every post and page has a call to action to either the contact page or the booking page.

Key Takeaways
Consistent, high-quality content built authority over time, helping search engines and users alike recognize the site as a trusted resource. At the same time, technical SEO provides the foundation that makes the content accessible, crawlable, and useful—making it a necessity rather than an option. Finally, building strong a backlink profile played a critical role in improving rankings, signaling relevance and credibility within the surrounding community.
Why It Worked
This strategy succeeded because it wasn’t built on isolated tactics, but on a holistic approach where content, technical SEO, and backlink efforts worked together to support one another. Rather than chasing short-term wins, the focus remained on sustainable, long-term growth that would continue compounding over time. Every decision was also grounded in real user intent and local search behavior, ensuring that the improvements not only boosted rankings, but also connected Gardens Animal Hospital with the right audience at the right moment.
